Never bothered buying a semiautomatic .22 caliber rifle simply because I was under the impression that they weren't very reliable as far as feeding and ejecting rounds. I also just assumed that they were not as accurate as a bolt action model so that's is what I've stuck with all my life and I've had many different ones. Remington, Marlin, Winchester, all great guns but just recently and at the age of 70, I spotted the legendary Ruger 10/22 at Sportsman's Guide on sale and decided to give one a try. I bought the no frills basic model with composit stock and no sights. Put a $30 reflex sight on it and have been to the range three times so far. Until yesterday just having some gun fun at 25 yards. Of course you would expect to group rather well at this distance and was impressed how well it was doing. Just yesterday I decided to see where I might be hitting at 50 yards so I loaded up and put 30 rounds on target. Incredible accuracy for a factory semi .22 and with no FTF or FTE with 300 rounds fired so far. Now I understand why this gun is so legendary. Ammo used was CCI Mini Mags 40gr. Round Nose. It's been my go to choice for all my rimfires. Was just so pleased with this little plinker I had to share.

Welcome to the LIGHT  ;)

Jrken124-

Good shooting!

The rifles certainly can perform well!

The flip side of that coin: you're obviously doing your part as well, with regard to breathing, trigger squeeze, etc. Good job! 👍

I've had a 10/22T for over 30 years. Put a cheap Tasco scope on it and haven't had to make an adjustment since then. I don't take it to the range as much as I used to because it gets boring shooting.

Thanks all for the replies and the nice comments……Again I cannot praise this little shooter enough. Took the reflex sight off and mounted a UUQ Red Dot. Wanted something that would stand up to the weather as well as being a bit more rugged and as luck would have it ……. it rained on my first range test. Again I'm wishing I had purchased one of these years ago. I'm having such great fun with this gun. Four 5 shot groups had it zeroed in at 25 yards and again …… taking my time I put 30 rounds of CCI Mini Mags on target at 50 yards. I could see even from that distance I was going to be very happy again as the entire center of target was now splattered in yellow. But I'm always thinking while walking out to check ……. is there going to be a flier, am I going to see a couple that got away and why? All shots felt good. Again the little plinker performed. Is this accuracy for real for a stock rifle or am I just getting incredibly lucky. Just had to share some more pics and say again thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I might just look into the whole replacement trigger thing. Certainly can't hurt.
