I was finally able to take this beauty out to shoot. In no small part thanks to Mr.deerstalker, who very generously sent some of his own reloads. A huge thank you is due!
We had a lot of fun shooting it, and I was glad to be able to share it with my friends. I took the scope off for the shooting which unfortunately left me with no usable sights since o forgot to remove the scope base.
The .256 has a heck of a crack to it, made my ears ring even with hearing protection on.
It’s a beautiful piece, and it has a really nice action. I really enjoyed the experience with this rare bird.

I was trying my best to get a picture as good as yours Contender, no luck for me and the fireball though.
I think it’s important to shoot these old girls at least once in a lifetime, mine is in pretty darn good shape, but I couldn’t pass up the chance. It adds to the allure!

That picture was an accidental capture by a friend. We didn't know he'd gotten it until later that evening.
One of my favorites.

That trip, was to Idaho to visit a dear friend,, "sixshot" aka Dick Thompson. We went on a ground squirrel safari that afternoon & the next day. I gave that Hawkeye a good workout!
