A friend sent this to me and I thought it worth sharing here ; especially after that Thread about the age of Ruger Forum members.

RAMBLINGS OF A RETIRED MIND

I found this timely, because today I was in a store that sells sunglasses, and only sunglasses. A young lady walks over to me and asks, "What brings you in today?"

I looked at her, and said, "I'm interested in buying a refrigerator.” She didn't quite know how to respond.

Am I getting to be that age?

I was thinking about old age and decided that old age is when you still have something on the ball, but you are just too tired to bounce it.

I thought about making a fitness movie for folks my age and calling it 'Pumping Rust.'

When people see a cat's litter box they always say, “Oh, have you got a cat?” Just once I want to say, “No, it's for company!”

Employment application blanks always ask who is to be called in case of an emergency. I think you should write, 'An ambulance.'

Birds of a feather flock together and then potty on your car. :x :x

The older you get the tougher it is to lose weight because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.

The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement. :?

Did you ever notice: The Roman Numeral for forty (40) is XL. :)

The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble..

Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved. :D :D

You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

Ah! Being young is beautiful but being old is comfortable. :) :) :)

When I was at the hospital to get a colonoscopy the lady taking my information asked if she should call Mrs. Thumbcocker in the event of an emergency. I told hot to just grab a doctor or at least an EMT because while Mrs. Thumbcocker is an excellent attorney she doesn't know jack about emergency medicine. The look was priceless.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could be like a pair of old boots...
the worse we look, the better we feel!

I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but
why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the
problem solve itself?

Learn from the mistakes of others.
You won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

The man who is a pessimist before 48 knows too much; if he is an
optimist after it, he knows too little.
- Mark Twain

I don't trip over things, but I do random gravity checks.

When I was a child I thought Nap Time was a punishment.
Now, as a senior, it feels like a small vacation

We old folks should always try to be helpful in contributing to young
folks' real life education. Therefore, it seems we have a duty to
offend them occasionally.

I'd hate to be an alcoholic with Alzheimer's. Imagine needing
a drink and forgetting where you put it.

Healthy is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday,
lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

You know you are getting old when you get up in the morning, anything that doesn't hurt doesn't work.

You know you are getting old when it is not the fact that you don't have "lead in your pencil " anymore..
it's that you just don't care if you don't.
