Quick question about GP100 frame

I see so many references such as ammunition loads and stuff like that that are using S&W frames as their "test" frame. What S&W frame most approximates the GP100?

The S&W "L" frame revolvers are very close to the GP100 series. They fit the same holsters.

I'd say the S & W 686 is the closest thing to a GP100

While the 686 series (L Frame) is generally accepted as being the same size as the GP-100 it is also generally regarded as not being quite as strong.
