Questions for Ballistol users.

I have used only Ballistol on my 3 pistols for more than 3 years, 2 of which have polymer frames.
I have absolutely no complaints regarding this product except the smell.
The fact that it's safer to use than other CLP's and lubes is significant.

The time to thoroughly flush the "innards" of my pistols without disassembly has arrived and I'm looking for advice from those who have used Ballistol for this purpose. Here are a few of my thoughts.

1) Flush the inner workings with "moose milk" (Ballistol dilluted with water). Let it sit. Flush it again. Blast dry with canned air. Done.
1a) After 1) spray lightly with Ballistol and blast dry again. Done.

2) Spray inner workings heavily with Ballistol spray. Let sit. Blast dry. Spray again lightly. Blast dry. Done.

The concerns I have are, will the water in the "moose milk" cause rust.
Ballistol says the water will evaporate leaving a lightly lubed surface.
Very desirable if true, as my other concern is too much lube which will collect crud in the last place you'd want it.

I have been using Ballistol for years and I really like it.

That being said, the only time I would mix ballistol with water is for cleaning a bore is after shooting corrosive ammo and only if I do not have hot soapy water which is my preferred bore cleaner for use with corrosive ammo.

For detail cleaning of pistols without disassembly, I use Ballistol (or Breakfree) on Q-Tips. If the pistol is so dirty that it has to be flushed out, I use WD-40 or a parts cleaning tank.
