Ruger made 2 models one with tube mag and one with mag like the 10-22 does any one know why and is one better than the other and I also here that you can not shoot lead in them is that true??

You are talking about the Ruger 44 Carbine and the Ruger Deerfield. Mechanically they are very different even though the basic stock shape is the same. The older 44 Carbine was probably discontinued because the cost of production was high and the sales tapered off. The Deerfield used a mechanism similar to a mini-14, a rotating locking bolt and a rotary magazine. Both guns have a gas port in the barrel and use a fixed piston and a moving gas pipe. Because lead can get into the gas port and clog it up lead bullets are not recommended. 8) 8)
