QUESTION ABOUT M77 ROUND TOP SCOPE MOUNTS....

I HAVE BEEN TOLD REMINTON 2 PIECE AND OR 1 PIECE 700 LONG ACTION SCOPE MOUNT BASES WILL FIT MY M77 ROUND TOP LONG ACTION (TANG SAFETY) 30/06. IS THIS TRUE? THE REASON IM ASKING IS BECAUSE I WANT TO MOUNT A BURRIS ELIMINATOR SCOPE ON MY RIFLE WHICH REQUIRES WEAVER STYLE BASES. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ADVICE OR HELP WITH THIS MATTER. Yes. the ST or Round Top action uses the same bases and has the same contour as the LA Remington 700.

Any base from any manufacturer that fits the LA Remington 700 will fit the ST Ruger.

I've used Redfields, both JR and SR bases and their rings, Burris. Leupold etc. Recently I pulled them all off and switched to Buehler Bases and rings on my STs.

If you need a good used Redfield I could probably send you one for the price of the postage.

Never mounted a Weaver base so don't have one extraa ut the answer to your question is yes, if you find Weaver bases for a LA 700 they'll fit.

Weaver shows a #79 base for the rear and a # 35 for the front. The # 79 is made especailly for this application. I used them decades ago on a 7MM round top. Bob :wink:

I'm wondering if the Talley LW one piece rings will fit. I try to avoid the Leupold style bases.
