Question about canned beans.

I love beans of all kinds, big pot of beans with cornbread, baked beans, pork & beans, red beans, black beans I will eat them cold right out of the can. One of my favorite meals is a good ribeye steak and a can of ranch beans.

I think I'll cook up a pot of frijoles for supper tonight. The dried kind. Colorado pintos are the best.

I had family in Colorado and we used to get the beans shortly after harvest, Much better than the one's that sat in a bin for years.

When I first went to the Britt run Offshore Platform chow hall in Nigeria, I was surprised that they had baked beans for breakfast. Just doesn't seem right.

Typical Britt breakfast

Typical Breakfast lunch and dinner that the local Nigerians would have. Okro soup with pounded yam.
I had some for lunch on one of the small platforms. Smells like cat food but not too bad.
You roll the yam into a ball and then make a thumb pocket and dip into the soup.

Apparently,, most of us enjoy some form of beans in all manners of dishes. I'm no exception.

But to add to post #20,, a variation of his post;

It’s been a long time since I have been able to handle good food lime that.

A grilled ribeye with Bush Bourbon and Brown Sugar Grillin Beans is a great meal. Add some fresh sliced tomatoes and some good hearth baked Italian bread and it gets even better.
In a former life I worked at a maximum security prison as an Engineer. On July 4th 2003 I was working the afternoon shift and all of the employees chipped in to buy ribeye steaks and I grilled them with the Watch Commander. I had steaks grilling on a barrel grill with mushrooms and onions cooking in a 5 gallon stainless kettle. I had a smoke ejector fan blowing the steak smell into the solitary confinement block and one of the convicts screamed.... Them MoFo's is eatin' STEAK!!!! To which I hollered back... Yeah and it's good too!!

One time we did Italian sausage with peppers and onions. You should have heard them screaming that day. It's subtle reminders like that which is the real punishment.
