Eezox will prevent rust like nothing else in the world. It won't prevent holster wear on a blued gun, but it will protect the finish from moisture and rust. It's also a good general purpose cleaner and breaks up carbon very well.
i used a thin film of gun oil for years, but have come to the decision that ren wax is the stuff for the job. i will add that avoiding rough/stiff holster wear will help more than anything!

I understand that it's a chemical finish that's why I was curios about Eezox.
Somewhere years ago I read about repairing CCH on a shotgun by applying sodium something or other (it may have been tincture) letting it dry then using a oxy acetylene torch playing it around for color. It said the chemical would change color at a low enough temp.not to bother any heat treatment and the small tip allowed control. They also said would be duller and not as durable as the real thing. Someday I run across it again.
I apologize if my question is also posted in gunsmithing I thought this post didn't take.
