Need help for a newbie! I just purchased a 582 series "new in the box" Ranch Rifle via a FFL dealer. In the box was a set of rings,screws (three funny looking and very small plastic black pins) a picatinny rail that has a cut-out (for the action I guess). Now these rings are a different design that I am familiar with having a tab on the underside slot as described in the manual but there seems to be no way to fit these rings on the picatinny rail ( it is pre-drilled to fit the top of the action with three provided screws). Ruger's site (albeit very little other info) refers to an "integral" ring mounting system !) What to do now? Any comments or suggestions about this veeeerrrry long discussion on such a probably short subject. Thanks in advance for any help.

The Ruger rings get mounted directly on the receiver, not on the rail. I don't think the Ranch Rifle comes with a rail, so I am betting it's aftermarket. Choose between the two setups. You'll need additional rings if you use the rail. The rail will give you more flexibility in what you can mount and where.
Jeff "Buckeye", thanks for the input FINALLY figured the "integral" ring system.! Not sure how stable this is but figure i would give it a shot 'fore buying new rings. Am thinking about CONTROL rings and maybe mounts! I have them on my magnum rifles for years NEVER a problem!

If the Ruger rings are "stable" enough for your purposes, I don't know what you're planning to do with the rifle.
