There are two LGS's in my county that carry reloading supplies. Bullets & powder, next to nothing. However, one of them had bricks of all the standard primers out on the shelf. $34.99/brick

Lucky you.

Our LGSs have very little in the way of primers. Small pistol primers were the first to go.

Fortunately, I picked up a couple of bricks prior to the madness.

I have had to start casting just to have bullets to be able to go the range every now and then. I can't afford $30 for a box of 50 9mm target loads.

Ditto on the lucky, the only primers around here are shotgun. Once in a while they have large pistol but I always keep a couple bricks in stock.

I haven't seen small pistol in months.

Hi..

Just went on another LGS run this morning.
It wasn't good...no .22LR anywhere, 4 LGS had less than 6000 primers added together and I could not find a single cast lead bullet in the only one of the four that even sells them. Hornady jacketed handgun bullets were in stock at only one shop and they didn't have the styles/calibers that I shoot.
Very few sets of reloading dies are available...nothing in what I would consider common calibers.
If you were looking for handgun powders there is a hit and miss chance you will find some at one of the shops... nobody had an extensive selection of any powders.

One interesting thing I noticed...the rack where one shop stocks .22LR was full of various gauges of shotgun shells. The same shop has next to no reloading presses and dies...those shelves are full of reloading manuals and assorted books on guns and hunting (something the shop never used to sell).

I could not find a single box of cartridges for .303 British, .30/30 or 7x57 Mauser. Every shop has restrictions on number of boxes of ammo that can be purchased per day/caliber. 7.62x39mm is available at $8.99-9.99/box.

Wal-Mart is out of almost every caliber of ammunition.

My son is getting a little anxious about shooting the .303 and 7x57. Seems I waited too long to decide to start reloading rifle calibers. After 35 years at this, you would think that I would have at least purchased the die sets for the rifles I own. I just never shot enough rifle to make it worthwhile(in my mind). Rifle ammunition was always relatively inexpensive, so I always just bought a couple of boxes whenever I wanted to shoot my rifles. I do always keep a couple of boxes of hunting ammunition on hand for the .25/06 and 7mm Mag, but generally no more than what is necessary to check zero and use for hunting. Lesson learned.

Still I have enough components to load at least 12K rounds of handgun ammunition, not counting the 3K cases that are already re-primed and ready to load. I do have a couple thousand rounds of .22LR on hand, so we will be good to go for this spring/summer shooting season. Hopefully, supplies will become more plentiful over the upcoming winter, so that I can institute my plan to stockpile components for future shortages.
