i went this morning to get a taurus 605 for $360+tax, while in the shop the guy said why not get the ruger sp101 for not much more. i asked his low dollar out the door for a new sp101, the casing envelope is dated february 2nd 2012. he came back and said $460otd well for less than $100 difference i got the ruger. did i do ok? was that a good price? i know i'm happy with the gun, but i haven't fired it yet. thanks

I spent just over $500 out the door for my sp101 a little over a year ago. Seems like a good price to me!

Oh my yes.... 8)

I spent $399 for a used one about a month ago and was glad to get it - I think you got a good deal - No, you got a really good deal!

A couple of used but very nice .357 SP's brought $425.00 plus tax at a local store.

Heck yeah ~ sounds like a good deal to me.

Excellent price. They are going for $499-$519 around here. Gun show asking prices are higher around here than what you paid. Congratulations.

:D You did good. A lady I work with got her license to carry this year and after trying out quite a few guns she chose an SP 101 .357. Our local gun store had it at over $500 with tax. The used ones I've seen at shows around here are usually in the $350 -375 range if you can find one. This was a stainless model.
Cape Cod Terry :D

I picked up an SP about 8 months ago and OTD was $465. I was back at the same LGS last week and the same gun in the case was $525 before tax. I'd say you done good!!

I paid $425 for a "never fired safe queen" 1995-96 model 3" .357 mag stainless in late 2010 ... I'd also say you did good on the purchase

I cant comment on the price but You did great by passing on the Taurus.

You will no doubt be happier with the SP101. You did well on the price.

Now you need a nice holster for it, like a Lobo Enhanced Pancake, with Optional Inner Hammer Shield. It would be a great choice for concealed carry.
For bumming around in the Kentucky woods a #5 would not be a bad choice for all purpose carry either.
