Powder advice

I have been building some loads for my 582 mini 30. It does not like 1680 but is very accurate with IMR 4198. 23.8 gr behind a 125 gr speer tnt hp gives 1-2 in groups at 100 yds. Velocity is in the 2180 fps range. Is there any other powder that can give accuracy and top velocity? By the way these loads are in IMI brass with 308 bullets open sights. This rifle is more accurate than my 196 and I am very impressed with it. Thanks for any advice. Some may wonder why I am reloading 762x39. This is a old retired machinists way to stay busy and have fun with kids and grandkids.

I see loads for; Accurate 1680, IMR 3031, H-4227 and H-4198 to be popular on the internet. No experience myself.

IMR4227 works real good with 125 bullets in the 7.62X39 case.....if you can find it.

Accurate with .308 bullets? A 7.62x39 should be loaded with .311 diameter bullets..... I would expect terrible accuracy with bullets that are loose in the bore. Stranger things have happened, though.

No surprize here.
One of ours would put 3 shots inside a 3" circle at 200 yards using a Nolsler (.308) Ballistic Tip, 22.5 Grns IMR4227, and Federal Match Primer.

Bored for .308 when the SAAMI standard for the 7.62x39 is a .311 diameter?

Don't own a mini 14 or 30, so I have no dog in this fiight, but I'd be surprised if they're bored for .308 diameter bullets. Anybody know for sure?

That's my memory also. As an aside, a few of the custom Encore barrel makers do X39 in .308 instead of .310 or .311. Finding dies in .310/311 was a bit of a chore when I decided to reload for my CZ 527.

This post caught my eye. I plan on starting to reload 7.62x39 in a month or two. FYI, the specs for my 582 Mini-30 say bore diameter (.310-.311).

Re-7 works great with 125gr .311 ProHunters in my sks. Nearly full case; good velocity; very good accuracy.
