Why is my post count dropping continually??? I was over 1,100 and now I'm close to slipping under 900... every day I log on and find I'm 20 or 30 posts lower than the day before!!! Is anyone else having this problem???

I very seldom look at post counts... (My own or anyone else's)

But could it be that posts are 'expiring'? Or perhaps something happened to the count when the political section got blown up a few weeks ago...

While some make post count a big deal and se it as some sort of rank or indication of knowledge, I often find tit's quite the opposite. CERTAINLY nothing I'd worry about.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
Never actually noticed till you mentioned it but I see that mine has also dropped. I had over 8000 and now I 76XX. Not a big deal, as the pay is the same no matter how many the counter shows. It is just going to be a wee bit longer before I can do my 10,000 post KARMA.  I did a 'search' of myself in only three Sections and found that I had 8368 posts in just those three sections, so, they only seem to have gone away on the "under the Avatar" side but are still being counted overall.

Hell, last year I lost all my posts and couldn't log in or nothing. I had to re-register.
I'm thinking it had something to do with logging in from my I-pad.???

I figured some of our recently released trolls grabbed some of the better ones on their way out the door to use on their next forum?

What is this thing you call a post count? What's it do? Can you eat it? Shoot it? Does it save energy or make money? What does a person do with a post count?

I don't get it...

Peace and God bless, Wolfsong.

Could also be that the site will run better without all the old posts clogging up the works. Just a thought as I know nothing about web sites.

Said the guy with over 12,000 posts!!! I worked hard to make it to "Buckeye", and now I'm a "Blackhawk" again!!! And I did it honestly, only posting when I had something to say!!! I coulda just replied to EVERYTHING with "Obama Sucks", but... Oh, well... that's life (that's what people say)!!!

DBCrader, BlkHawk73 is one of the original 20 Forum members joining in Dec. 1999. Having 12k+ posts in nearly 15 years is certainly nothing extraordinary. He also didn't get there by posting a bunch of "+1" responses to posts.

Yeah, I never did one of those "+1" deals either...

Old topics are being deleted. It's happening to everyone, mine as well.

Here's your answer. Nothing more and nothing less.

There's been 230-some pages deleted from the Political Section alone. Almost 50 topics per page puts you in the 11,000 range of total topics now gone. Consider or estimate say ..... 10 posts per page and now you can expect about 110,000 total posts gone. My total has reduced by about 3,500.

BTW ~ in Politics all the topics were from 2010, 2011 and most of 2012.

It's hard work to post on the forum? Really?

Would it make you feel better if you were a "Hawkeye"?

Okay, you are now a Hawkeye For Life. Feel better?

Good Riddance. There is no reason to keep anything in the political section for more than 30 days. :D

Or thirty minutes, for that matter.

Right you are Jimbo ..... we may not get to 30 days but I'll be happy to get to 12 months first.

Lounge has about 500 pages but little there is as toxic or useless as Politics.

If someone has an item listed in the classifieds, it is helpful to him if he has a couple of hundred post count.

It is easier to trust someone who has been here for a while than to trust a newcomer that nobody knows. 8)

I don't know Jimbo, I kinda liked keeping your election prediction from last year.

Just kidding. Go back to bed, or fishing or something. :D

Deleting all but the past 12 months in the Classifieds might be a good move? Having four-year-old posts full of pics cannot be a good bandwidth policy.

I think we have a winner there. :D :D

As shaky as the site's operation has been lately, I believe a little "housecleaning" is in order. That said, I do not understand why the post count should change since it's a measure of participation regardless of content, but I'm not all that concerned about it, either (said the guy with 15K posts).

I'd argue that old Classifieds are more valuable than 563 pages of Lounge dating back to 2009.

At least with Classifieds we can search to see what guns sold for in the past and maybe see a picture or two of something neat.

And, we do ask folks to keep Classifieds posted after the sale in our "Guide to Posting".
