Please help with SR22 Extended Base

I'm new and got my SR22. I love it but am having trouble switching out the base of the magazine to the extended one. It does not set and I can't seem to move it into place. Is this normal? Any suggestions on how I can get this fixed so I can go shoot it tomorrow? Thank you...

take the extensions and carefully chamfer the hole on the inside of it, should just slide into place, not too much do a bit and try.

Thank you...I took my Dremel and did a little tweaking and got them to seat...

I had the same problem with one of mine. One switched out easily but I couldn’t get the second one to comply. I called Ruger and they send me 2 new bases plates free of charged. Problem solved!

My extended bases were a bit of a pain too. Good thing once they are on, I won't be changing them out again. I ended up putting them on as tight as I could, then used a small nail to poke the pin (through the side of the mag) into the hole in the base plate.

Same here. Some were not right from the factory.

Didn't have any problems changing my bases.

Also, just a side note while we're talking about mags, did you know that you can switch the spring lever (the one you pull down to load ammo in the mags) from one side to another? I found this out after a long range session. The grip is cut to take the mag with the lever on either side.

It is more of a problem with the spring plate with the pin, as it seems to rotate away from the floor plate. I just took a sharp hat pin and used it to draw the pin into alignment with the hole in the floor plate. Pops right in once you over come the rotation the spring causes.

Same here, seems like alot of people have trouble with these. Ruger should send out the mags from the factory with the bigger one as most will end up using it anyway.

I had trouble too at first.

Put the new plates on and then tap the mag against your desk/table and they will seat right up.

I agree.. Spent 1/2 hour coming to the conclusion they weren't going to fit. Then spent another 1/2 hr after the gun came back from SRC for a new slide and barrel w/a note from tech " JP " that the grip extensions functioned as designed.. Horsehockey .. he never had them on. A call to another tech stated with a chuckle they a " bad batch " of the plastic bases and he would send me 2. Well that's just dandy. So my weapon had the bad slide, barrel and grip bases all rolled up in one. Sure hoping for better when I get it to the range.
