Playing with the new lens

Went out playing with my newest lens this weekend. I ain't no doccash but I think I did alright. Plus, a 200 is a little short for birding, even with a 1.6 FOVCF. But this little Canon 200mm f/2.8 L really breathes new life into my ol 30D. I now know what I've been missing all these years using cheaper glass. Might have to sell a gun or two to get me some more L Glass. Maybe a 400 f/5.6 L. Or the monster 800mm f/5.6 L! (what's a good kidney going for these days?).

Turbo: I have a 30D and use it alot. It is a very capable camera. Your images are great!! A new lens always breathes new life into the camera and photog as well and that is a win-win situation!! Enjoy. Dr.C

Here's a pic I took about a week ago. Goldfinches at my backyard birdfeeder. Taken with a Nikon D40 with lens at 300mm.

Cardinal and a red finch, same equipment.

L Glass rules.... I too am a firm believer in the L Lenses.... I wish i still had the camera that took these....

My L's of choice were the 35/f1.4 and 135/f2

Nice shots. For a Nikon

Actually I almost bought a Nikon last year getting back into SLR but snagged a good deal on the 30D. I'm going to setup a feeder in the corner and use an old tent for sniper hide. When these stupid temps balance out. Have a lot of cardinals and blue jays here in the burbs. The ones in the wildlife park are too skittish.

Great images. You can really zoom out there with the 30D.
