The second one worked for me but if it's overflowing other people's screens then I'd stick with the first one.

I like to run in the 500 to 700 pixel range for width. That will display well
on virtually any screen, yet provide sufficient detail.

both were fine on my 15" laptop monitor.... this critter has a very high pixel count.... D.C. mall picture took up about 80% of the monitor.
They both look good for me, but #1 is fine. Now for the million dollar question what image host?

Hey,,, I recognize that first picture! I get to see that a lot each fall. :D :D (Especially when I evict them from peoples homes!)
But I agree that the 1st picture is fine for most. The second one,,, a tad smaller would work as well.

Nice pictures Dave, and we too went over to IMGUR, works simple and easy ,just gotta remember to 'pick the size down in the right hand corner and we too use the "large thumbnail"....guess it really depends on just what you upload to their site in the first place...I know many of the pictures we were able to retrieve from "photodumpit" (sic) now are undersized ??? go figure, gotta get the last laugh in I guess.......
