I've posted about the winter I skated for Thunder Bay and the moose before. Some of the guys used to joke ( mostly ) about trying
to ride one. Usually with beer involved, plans would be made about 6-8 of the players getting together, playing cowboy and roping one to try and ride.
Fortunately there was always either too much or not enough beer to make the attempt and no moose were harmed or drunken idiots killed. Did see a guy hit one in the head
with a slap shot outside the rink one morning. She jumped a bit, picked up the puck dropped it and went right back to breakfast on the rinks landscaping.
The people who had never been around a moose were all pretty disrespectful of the danger they posed. The guys from rural Canada would never even
get near one....it was always.... " don't **** with da Moose! " Saw several players get too close drawing some half hearted threatening charges, but none ever managed
to get ran over. I will say the moose are far quicker than you think when they want to be, and dumber than can be imagined.
The moose in town also like doughnuts, powdered sugar seemed the favorite. Cold pizza was ignored but a pan of beer was ok.
