Ever shot a blackpowder revolver?

While there are more powerful firearms out there and ones with more rounds and can shoot faster, I still wouldn't want to be standing in front of one especially if the man holding it knew how to use it.

They hit a lot harder than you would imagine and that soft lead round ball does quite a bit of damage (leaves a big hole out the back side). At least on critters I've shot with my '51 Navy (36 cal) and '58 Remington (44 cal).

Very nice photograph by the way. I really like shooting these BP revolvers.

Don't shoot them enough, but I have shot them.
Can you imagine the surprise hiding in wait for
someone, or several someones, bent on attacking
an early Texas Ranger armed with a couple of
these? :shock:

The Patterson sure did surprise those Injuns :wink:
Went from the Patterson to the Walker in a very short time. What a handfull even without the 60 grs. of powder.

My Black powder guns include this Patterson and a 5 1/2"
ROA (which is crazy accurate). Also been eyeing the Walker
and several models of the Dragoon as a future buy, but can't
come to a decision on one of these few.

Walkers are beasts. You pretty much need a bipod to hold one up.

The good news is they are so heavy the recoil isn't hateful. With a full charge (just a little under 60gr 3F, the recoil is about like a 7 1/2" barrel blackhawk. It is stout but managable.

I sure wouldn't want to be hit by a ball coming out of one.
