I like the stainless aspect of stainless steel but not the bright finish. I painted mine with BBQ high temp flat black paint. The bolt and trigger group were left in the natural stainless finish.

I scuffed the metal, degreased it, and painted it with three coats. The rifle and paint was at room temperature, about 70F. Each coat dried for about 15 minutes. After one hour I baked it in the oven at 200F for half hour and then 175F for another half hour.

The finish is pretty durable and has stood up to shooting just fine. I don't think it will like bore cleaner however so every effort should be made to protect the finish while cleaning.

The only downside is the oven smelled like paint the next time it was turned on but that dissipated in about 15 minutes.
