I have P Series but all are metal. I have had a 95 a long time ago but didn't shoot it much. I just found a 95 made in 1998. How are these 95's in the long run ? Do they hold up well ? Do the take-down pins ever walk out ? Any information is appreciated.

Mine is a 1999 vintage. still have it, I have shot anything and everything on sale through it. Probably well in excess of 7000 rds. I have had only two malfunctions and it was directly related to ammo. (loosely seated bullets) Every off brand, name brand of ammo through it. I have used strictly
Ruger 10 round magazines and one aftermarket pro something. Never had a pin walk out, did have to touch up the glow in the dark rear sight a couple of times over the years due to cheap dirty ammo. Never a problem with steel cased, or aluminum cased ammo. it just shoots and shoots great. No repairs other than the touch up paint.

I paid $310.00 for my 1999
While on the way to get this 95 , I stopped at another gun store and saw a new in box Ruger SR45. The look and feel was great but when checking the trigger pull and reset , the slide wouldn't go into battery without help. Plus that darn loaded chamber indicator was hideously huge and awkward looking. Brand new in box old stock I guess. The slide wouldn't go back into battery unless you slide-shot it all the way back. What a dang shame.
No the SR45 was wet with oil , it was new , and I could tell that the trigger mechanism and striker was just "Xucked up" from the factory. It was terrible. I got on youtube and found other videos with people having dead strikers and other firing problems with the SR45.

I had a P-97 and it was stout! I don’t think that either that or the P-95 would ever wear out, in a single lifetime. But the take down pin does seem like weak link, but I don’t think that it could walk out.
I've had P95's since they came out. The P95 grip fits my hand better than others and I carried the KP95DC for years. Not a lot of rounds but always worked when needed.
I'd not recommend "soaking in Ballistol" (or any other oily substance for that matter). Once the synthetic material gets oily, it's darned near impossible to "un-oilly" it. Not much lube is required for these pistols and in my experience, the take down lever has NEVER been an issue- if you keep your digits off it while shooting.

I don’t recall the year of manufacture for my KP95. However it has not experienced a single hiccup.
