p95 ammo

I purchased a new P95 a month ago. I was finally able to get out shooting. I fired the first two mag's down, by the time I got to the to third mag, gun started to jam. I was firing Magtech 115 grain rounds. The brass was not clearing the chamber. Kept getting stuck. A friend told me that I need to use a higher grain round. Any advice?

Based on threads I've read here and personal experience, it's possible you're loosening your grip. Fatigue perhaps? I took my dad out shooting with my P95 and I went through 5 mags without a single problem. When dad would shoot it using the same ammo, he got several stove pipes. He tightened his grip and then it performed flawlessly for him.

+1 on what cougerjam said...Mine eats everything...but my son had problems with all ammo until we figured out it was his grip.

The spent case was failing to extract and the next round in magazine was pushed into empty case which was still in chamber? After 300 rounds the extractor on my p95 lost some of it's tension and it would slip off case fairly often causing a jam. Not sure if that's what your gun is doing or if you might be limp wristing a little?

First, I vote for limp wristing as mentioned in the first response, for two reasons.. first it is the most obvious and 2nd it cost nothing to find out...

I've also heard that Magtech ammo is not the best there is... So, 3rd I would try some different ammo... and fourth... you need to strip and clean the pistol.. depending on the date of manufacture the oil and grease they use at the factory can get old.

Thanks for the info and tips, now all this makes me feel like a limp wristed woosie. I'll give it a try, hell if anything it gives me a reason to shoot more.

The 115gr is fine, no problems there. And I've used Magtech a lot in the past with absolutely no problems, but you never know if you've gotten a bad batch of ammo. Good advice given above to make sure you're not limp wristing and try some different ammo.
