I recently bought a P94 9mm. I really like the pistol but the magazine release is very stiff. Is this just the nature of the beast or can the spring be replaced? Thanks

"Stiff" is a subjective term.... what I and you might consider stiff could be much different in someone else's opinion. I prefer to have a "firm" latch/spring on the magazines so they don't fall out easily. I would make sure there is nothing in mag well up by the mag release and lube it. You could order a factory spring.... or just call Ruger and they might send you one to try. I am not sure if there is an aftermarket spring, but you might be able to google it or someone might chime in and let ya know.

My mag releases on my P's can get still over a long period if not lubed. Run a little oil into the mag release, on both sides and work the release. I think it will free itself to your satisfaction. Pretty sure you won't need a new spring.

The spring is blued steel and subject to rust which can "widen" the spring in the slot. Like Wixedmords said if you lube it may loosen. It is pretty easy to take out and inspect. You can even bend it to lessen or stiffen it as you like.

I have a 95 that the spring is "light" and I feel the mag could drop if I bump it. I need to take that apart at some point but the 95 doesn't have removable grips so it may be harder to remove and replace.

Good luck,
