P90 or SR1911 ??

Which one for what? Target, competition, self defense? Why haven't you shot the P90? The question, as stated, is unanswerable without a lot more info.
 
If I had to choose one or the other I would choose the SR 1911. I have never owned or shot a P90. By all reports I have ever read they are very reliable & accurate. However Ruger no longer supports the P-series autos. At some point & time it may be difficult to get parts if needed. The SR 1911 being a 1911 parts are readily available not only from Ruger but from many quality aftermarket providers. To be honest I believe the 1911 to be easier to shoot accurately than a Ruger P-series auto due to better ergonomics & trigger.
 
P90 for me even though I have a few 1911's. I like both platforms but I shoot the P90 a little better even though the trigger on the 1911's,
(Kimber and Springfield) is light years ahead of the Ruger. Could be because I have spent more time with the Ruger just because I like shooting it? I would trust any of the .45s I have anyway.
 
I don't think you could go wrong with either of them, but as a die hard 1911 guy, I got to give the nod to the SR1911.

I have a seldom shot P-90, and have just acquired a 1911 (RIA GI). The 1911 would be my choice, for the reasons stated.
 
I love my P95, but I have no want for a gun with a double stack thick handle that holds but a single stack magazine.
 
Get the SR1911 and the CMD version or maybe CMD-LW. Let me explain. Have a P90 and several of the SR1911 series. Below the P90 and my SR1911CMD.



Now the P90 is about 33.54oz and the SR1911CMD, being an all steel gun is 36.65oz, both with an empty mag. But look at the sight radius of both.



Now look at both of them from the top....



I have been wanting to take them both to the range on the same day with the same ammo and shoot them back to back but have not gotten around to it yet. Of course now I have the SR1911CMD-LW, but it is lighter than the P90 at 28.76 ounces with an empty mag.

Then you get into the problem with replacement parts or even extra mags on the P90 compared to the tons of parts you can get for 1911 type pistols. You see on other forums where people have basically put tons of aftermarket parts on the SR1911.
 
Oh yes, and the P90 has been 100% on function and fairly accurate over the years. I just feels sort of big and clunky in my hand. I have never carried it but like it enough I have never sold it. Also should post a picture of the relatively new SR1911CMD-LW

Beautiful.

I have three P90's and love em but these pics make me want to visit my LGS and do some trading in order to get that little jewel in the stable.
 
I'm a 1911 guy, but if the P90 were being produced, and sold in the $500 - $600 range, I'd pick the P90, mostly because it has sort of "brutish" good looks and the SR1911 is not on the top of my list of must have 1911s. On the other hand, as mentioned above, the P90 is out of production and is no longer supported by Ruger. As much as I like the P90, I'd pick the SR1911 since replacement parts can still be had (practically forever, I suspect).

The P90 is THE BEST of the P series.
This coming from a guy who owns a first generation P95 that I like, and a P91 (customized) that I LOVE!

Do a google search on the history of the barrel design of the P90.
There is a reason why so many P90's turned out WAY more accurate than the price they charged.

No history with the SR1911.....So I don't get to vote. :wink:

I can agree with that.
 
Have to offer up the P345 as the BEST of the P-series guns. Safe, lightweight, has a rail for the appliance crowd, and "middle-of-the-night reliable" for me. Essentially the same size pkg as a Commander, and it fits my hands well. Wife#1 likes it also, and she has great confidence with it. (I never presume I will be the only one reaching for it under stress).

I have the 1911 CMD. and want to get the light weight soon.
 
I own both. The SR1911 is a great pistol, I love this pistol.
On the other hand, I would not give the P90 to my worst enemy, the P90 I "owned" was a POS from the start.
 
If there was an unlike button my wife would use it because I used her ottoman as a back drop for those greasy pigs..... :lol: :oops:

Thank goodness for the clean-ability of microfiber......
