What year was the p89 released? I thought it was in 1989, but the Ruger website only goes back to 1993 for them. I'm just curious, any help would be great. Thanks.

The design was completed in 89, hence the 89 in P89. I think they were released in 91, but one of the experts should be along shortly with a definitive answer.

I bought my P89DC in CA in Sep 1990 so they were out then. That one had the laynard ring and was stainless, but had only the left side decock, right side (southpaw) was a plug.

According to Ruger and his Guns, the KP89DC was available in 1991.
The KP89DCC which included an extra magazine and case was introduced in 1992. The blue P89 and all subsequent blued models started in 1990.

My KP89DC has a very low 5-digit serial number that is below what Ruger lists on their site. I called them and was told it shipped in April '92. FWIW
