Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum as the new owner of a Ruger P89. When handing off some preban magazines to a friend to be refinished, he lost my floor plate to one magazine. I called Ruger and ordered a new floor plate and they sent me Model V01003. Unfortunately, they do not match up. The part sent to me was too small and did not slide over the magazine, it looked as if the magazine should slide into the floor plate. My original floor plate was a very think piece of steel that it seems has been discontinued (Model V01000). Does anybody know where I can find a floor plate, plastic or steel, to fit my magazines? I know of a person who has post ban magazines and the floor plate fit, however, being in a ban state, I cant use it because the floor plate says PB with a circle around it which I am assuming means post ban. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Very ealry P89s used a different type of magazine... first thing 'we' need to do is determine if you have one of those or one that takes the 'newer' 9mm 'P' magazines. My solution is probably not what you want to here... just get a new magazine.... (just re-read the post ban part)

pictures would help.

can't quite figure out how a magazine that was made before any ban can be marked as such? Sorry you have to live in such a place... but then we all maybe there before long.

The post-ban magazine is what is parked with "PB" that a local retailer will sell me the internal parts but will not give me the body, yet I still have to pay full price. Regardless however, the floor plate is marked "PB", not the body, so i would have a pre ban magazine marked post ban. The serial number to my P89 is after 304-70000, and it seems my magazines are pre 304-70000. My magazine body also has four holes on each side of the magazine. These magazines are pre ban 15rd, and again, being in a ban state, I can only purchase 10s.

Here is a link showing my floor plate, however, im sure there is a plastic not marked PB out there somewhere.

Thank you blume357 for your assistance.

EDIT:
I found this in another forum. Can anyone confirm?

"I've come across some 9mm P-Series magazines really cheap, but without floorplates. The Ruger site is out of stock, but the seller told me that 9mm Beretta, Sig, or CZ floorplates would work, is this true?"

Any way you can post a pic of the PB plate?

Never knew postban mags were marked like that, is that just in your state?
Are you sure it is a Ruger floorplate and not a Beretta one?
I know older Beretta mags were marked PB, but that was on the mag body.
Don't know about the floorplate, though.

Good luck on finding what you need.

I do not have the "PB" marked magazines. I went into my local shop and asked if there was any way they could get their hands on a floor plate for my P89. They said they had a post-ban mag they could try out, and it fit. I'm assuming that the "PB" meant post ban as I did not see any other markings on the body of the shop's magazine. Unless someone out there knows of a manufacturer that labels their floor plates with an encircled "PB", I have to go with my assumption. Rather be safe than sorry, MA sucks with this capacity limit nonsense. I cant carry a magazine with more than 10 rounds unless it is preban, but theoretically, I could carry 10 magazines on me.

Pretty sure mec-gar made those early mags and I think a current mecgar mag has the same foot. Maybe look for that.

Good luck,

That is exactly what I am looking for, or a plastic floor plate that will fit that style of magazines.
