Anybody here have a trigger job done on there P85, I did and the pull on it was about 8.5 lbs. after about 7.5 lbs, although allot smother and the creep removed that it had it would seem to me that the pull should be less any thoughts about the Pull ???

My guess is you are referring to the double action pull of your gun, am I right about this?
If that is the case, how has the single action pull changed?

No the single action is 7.5 lbs of pull to fire with the hammer cocked.

Boy, it's been a long time since I shot my old P85, my nephew owns it now, but I do recall that the single action pull was pretty good. I know I tested it years ago but I don't remember the numbers I got (DA/SA) but I think my P85 was about 6# in SA. I did shoot a ton of rounds thru it but it never was terrible, even new. You may want to check your gauge, that does seem a bit high to me. The P85 never did have a match trigger by any means though. :D

I am interested in what you did to get rid of the creep. The single-action pull on my P85 is probably 6 or 7 lbs, which is ok with me, but the creep is a pain when I am trying to shoot it accurately. Creep and Overtravel and the long reset...

Actually, the harder I try the worse it shoots...if I just blast away with it its not half bad, but if I sit down and take a rest my groups do not get any better.

Answer to your question is in the first sentence. "Anybody here have a trigger job done on there P85, I did"

I had a Gunsmith do a Trigger Job on it, so I do not know exactly what they do, he said something about taking a stone to it and smoothing out any rough parts, If anything I am great full that the creep is out and it is Much smother to shoot, I feel more like I am squeezing the trigger now as before the trigger job I felt like I was pulling the trigger.

SReagle, Because of the way the P-Series pistols are engineered, (for safety) you will not get the kind of trigger pull on them you get with other differently engineered pistols of other makers. Several things are going on with the P pistols. The sear is "undercut" to prevent accidental discharge or burst firing. This means that when the sear is actually engaged, the hammer moves back slightly against the hammer spring giving you added resistance. When you pull the trigger in SA mode, you will have initial take up to deal with (again a safety issue). Then an extension on the trigger bar pulls the blocker lever that in turn pushes the firing pin block plunger up against it's spring. (more added resistance) This prevents the firing pin from going fully forward until the trigger is fully pulled. Then the trigger bar pulls the sear fully forward to release the hammer. What can be done is to put "slightly" lighter springs in which I personally do "NOT" recommend because of the safety issues! Smoothing up the interacting parts can be done to a "degree" such as making sure the hammer spring does not rub on it's strut, etc. Your simply not going to get a 3 or 4 lb SA trigger pull on these pistols that will "insure" safety of operation!.........................Dick :!:

I am vary happy with the trigger work I had done to my P-85, I shot it for the first time and I am impressed, 10 rounds fired at 7yds and 8 rounds inside a 6" circle of the target, 1 round just outside that and 1 round about 2" outside.
so far the best ammo in this pistol has been the Sellier & Bellot, and ammo is a big factor in getting a nice group, I have got some PMC I will try soon.

I'm sorry SR. I hate spelling police, but I cannot take it.
It's SMOOTHER. Not SMOTHER.
SMOTHER is what you do to your
mother in law with a pillow.
And it's GRATEFUL, Not GREAT FULL.
GREAT FULL is how you feel
after thanksgiving.
Carry on.
I am sorry, it was like fingers on a chalkboard and I snapped! :o
