I've got an old P85 and would like to add a light to it. Wondering if anyone sells a picatinny rail that mounts to the trigger guard, so the light would be below the barrel. I found lots of lights & lasers...just need a way to mount them & most are picatinny mounts. Please let me know...thanks...JR

There options but the options are 20 years old so finding something to fit is hard. Even a 89 type device is obsolete.

I have seen a couple things to mount scopes that add a rail to the top but nothing really that adds to the bottom. There was a custom job a guy did to add a rail to his gun. He drilled thru the bottom of the frame and mounted a small rail. Came out nice but he recoated his frame so it all matched.

A hand held light is nice because you don't point the gun/light at things you don't want to shoot. To each his own and good luck.

Welcome too by the way.

You are going to have your work cut out for you mounting a light on a P89. If you wanted to mount a laser you could get Crimson Trace laser grips. The only drawback to those is the price.

As Already mentioned there was a custom job that one of the Rugerforum.com members did a while back that came out looking pretty good. That member was "Truthnotrelative" so search on that term along with "P89" and "Duracoat" and you should be able to find it.

If you want to use your P89 for Home defense, I humbly suggest you get some Trijicon night sights and keep a decent flashlight handy. There are advantages to having a separate flashlight vs a weapon mounted light. Just make sure you get a lanyard for your flashlight so you can let go of it to use your weak hand for opening doors etc.
