P-85 mkII ammo test

Tested a bunch of factory ammo last week in my P-85 mkII. Couldn't get great groups with ANY of the 115 gr. rnds (Both US & Foreign mfg.) All were FMJ bullets.
Really tightened up with 124 gr. ammo esp. the RWS ammo made in Switzerland. Didn't have any 147 gr. but will get a box or two for the next time out.

Could easily be the gun .... P85's are the worst semi Ruger ever made for accuracy.

Get over it. I have not had that experience with any P pistol. And I have a boat load. Is it a bulls eye gun...NO. But they hit what I am aiming at...the ultimate objective...period. You are talking a $300 dollar gun here too.

With the right ammo it's as accurate as I can be!

I just bought a P85 MKII and I'm getting 5 shot groups of around 3.5" at 10 yds rapid fire (~1rd/sec.) shooting PMC 115gr FMJ.
I haven't tried any 125gr yet.

It's entirely possible that a P85 is more accurate with 124 gr bullets, many 9mm pistols are. I owned a P85 for many years, it was my first centertfired semi auto. Well at least one that I owned and not Uncle Sam.
That P85 was reliable as a rock and after I became a better pistol shooter, about as accurate as one. You'll only milk out a little in a accuracy test with one but at least go and have some fun doing it. I loved my old '85 and I really shot the crap out of it.
