A long way from heaven and far too close to Chicag
At Rural King today I overheard a conversation by a gentleman that heard water running last night and assumed he had a burst pipe. He dressed and went outside to find someone had turned on his outside faucet and was waiting for him to come out. The thug discovered to his sorrow this particular gentleman doesn't leave the house without a handgun. No shots were fired but (unfortunately) the thug managed to get away. These are the weapons of war certain individuals claim shouldn't be in civilian hands, I wonder what would have happened if not for the dream of Mr Glock...

This sort of scenario is where I feel a gun mounted laser is a distinct advantage. You don't even have to speak(which might give away your location in some instances) for the bad guy to know he's in the wrong spot.

It worked for me. Two guys in a van in my driveway getting ready to steal a generator during a power failure. 1 pretty red dot on the drivers chest was enough to make them leave in a hurry.

Not questioning anyone’s judgement but could there be legal ramifications of pointing a gun with a laser? No imminent danger or threat.

That would largely depend on exactly where you live - State/City/County/Farm/Suburb/Apt., etc. Where I live (out in the woods in MS) it would not be an issue. In NJ, NYC, etc, where you're not permitted to defend yourself or your property, you'd probably go jail.

But I don't have any laser equipped firearms, so I'd just have to use bullets. That's also not a problem. :)

Hard call.... I have been taught to only point a gun at a 'dead man' in other words you point and shoot.... but I have also heard of situation where presenting at least has saved a lot of trouble.... the only issue is did the bad guy just move on to someone else or get a wake up call to go find a better profession.....

I can only speak for S.C. but in the above described laser situation you would have been perfectly justified in S.C. What most folks don't even know here is that if it was after dark you would also be justified in pulling the trigger.

It would not have been good, that much can be guessed. I have a Mister 1911 myself, and I have been known to take it outside with me.
What a world we live in, when fools can push their luck, and cause havoc. And the good people always have to be careful, and walk on egg shells. It is perverse.

Be careful with that thinking. Truth is, the police FREQUENTLY work off the premise that the first person that calls is the innocent one. There are states that if you point a gun at someone, they are justified in shooting you, because they are afraid for their life. Even in your house. There are some screwy laws out there.
