All summer, I told my wife that at 72, I was contemplating quitting deer hunting, but that I wanted to get just one more big buck. Well I did it the November. Had to travel from my home in Vermont, to my old hunting area in New Hampshire. I had taken a nice big 10 pointer there many years ago, and remembered the area. I got lucky! Eight big beautiful point and 180 lbs dressed.
I don’t think I will quit deer hunting, I enjoy eating them too much. But from no on I’m going to look for the nice fat young ones, these old bucks drag too hard!

Congrats on that nice mature buck! You got him with that paddle stocker. Don't quit keep hunting! I'm 68 and my buddies are all around the same age. We're not quitting they will have to drag me out of the western Maryland and West Virginia mountains were we hunt. Opening day of rifle season the Saturday after Thanksgiving it was 10 degrees and a light snow on the ground. I was 15 feet up in the air in a ladder stand. Enjoyed every minute of it. Again congrats and don't quit!
