This is a great article. My son-in-law drives for Land Rover and is one of their instructors. He is the one one the very right side in the lighter shirt.

The latest episode on wheeler Dealers had them refurbishing an OLD Land Rover M-1; The Brit military had used them along with many Brit farmers. This one they took the body off, cleaned up the chassis ( some rust and a heavy protective coating) re-coated it with a powder coating, spiffed up the engine, took the roof off and installed a full siding on the back, put a Solar panel on the roof over the cab with a power converter, added a fancy water filtering system, winch on the front and a "pop-up tent" thingy on the roof (away from snakes, ants and scorpions !). I think the thing was 50 years old. Still sturdy, no body rust.
