Decided to step back from the Dillion 550B and start slowly with a Lee Single Stage C.I. Press. I had hoped to use the Dillion dies but I have encountered a problem. Depriming and case sizing went well but the Dillion tool for flaring the case mouth fro bullet insertion is made to only work with the Dillion powder die with the powder measure in place on the 550B press? I am reloading .45 Colt and think I'm dead in the water.

Suggestions?

Just do one step at a time and your 550 is a single stage press.
I do some rifle on a single stage but if you load a lot you will love your dillon in short time :D
I do think its good to start on a single stage.

For now, just mount your Dillon powder-thru expander back on your 550B and just use that for flaring and charging. In principle, it is still the same as having a standalone powder measure mounted on your bench and charging from that.

OR if you really want to use your Lee Single Stage, Call Dillon and get a RL450 powder die to use your Dillon expander in. There is then also an adapter available that will let you connect anyones 7/8-14 threaded powder measure to it.

Buy dies made for a single stag press, not your auto loader Lee ones are real cheap unless you want something better like RCBS or Lyman even theirs are not a bad price.
