My OM was converted in 1994. Abt. 3 years ago it began failing to fire half the time. cleaning & oiling & new hammer spring, it got worse with each range session!! I obtained a new "conversion transfer bar", needed a little stoning to smothly slide up & down.
It fired 18 shots no problem, except now the trigger does not rest untill the trigger is nudged from the right side or slight rearward touch to the hammer, so cocking it will rest the trigger. traded one fault for another. What am I missing

Welcome to the Forum!
Since I have ZERO experience using any OM Ruger with the safety upgrade I can't offer any help to fix it as it is. I always remove any of the safety upgrades in my OM Rugers & re-install the original parts.
Have you tried this to see what happens?

No I have not tried "unconverting" it yet. That is one thing I want to try. But would like to have the conversion working properly before I give it to one of my children.

Just teach them the proper way to load it..... One round in, skip the next chamber and load 4 more. Thumb the hammer all the way back, and you'll drop the hammer on the empty chamber.

My first guess is that the new transfer bar is getting pinched by the hammer.
My second guess is that your trigger return spring is either a bit weak or that the spring/plunger ass'y (and/or the hole that it sits in) is in need of cleaning.

Hope this helps.

Thank each of you for your advice, I think I will "unconvert" it and try it like that before reinstalling the factory conversion parts. And then call Ruger about correcting the fail to fire problem.
Thanks again.
