they were from the same supplier that did them for S&W over the years but the old man said they were too costly I've had them off and on for some time and they were never good sellers, oh well,,,,,, still have a few here downstairs..........:cool::rolleyes:;)

I've seen a couple,, but don't own any.

I’ve never seen the Ruger ones.

I remember similar boxes with the metal reinforcements in the corners. You can't get a more quality card board box. Things were different back then, even single use items were made to last forever.

I also have never seen the Ruger ones. When I saw the photos I immediately thought, Smith and Wesson. :cool:

it is odd that about that same period of time in the early 80s when S&W went from the two piece telescoping boxes to the one piece "fold up " boxes , when they started using the alphabet , 3 letter serial numbers ala "ABC-1234", for all of their models, just a different printing on the top of the lid, 'Revolver' or 'Semi auto' much like Ruger basic one size of box, with a different insert and the end labels with all the guns "info/data" (specs) got away from the reinforced corners, maybe the box company went to Ruger to try and make a sale???:unsure::cool:;)

Those were the glory days for S&W as far as I'm concerned.
Of course my Smith Collection only consists of stainless guns.
A few of my early 66's , a 60, and a 63 were of the 2 piece Bangor Punta era, though.
