Old Model vs New Model 45 acp

I'm thinking (without measuring) that the New Vaquero 45acp cylinder is smaller in diameter than the (original) Vaquero .45 acp cylinder.

Guess I didn't phrase that question very well.
I'm wondering more about the OM Blackhawk BK45 vs the New Model version. I would like to find a 45acp cylinder to fit a 45c old model gun but am guessing it will be difficult if I am limited to one from the Old Model run from '70 to '74.

I understand your question.
Yes, it can be done. Thing is though, all cylinders do not interchange, even within the same year of production...so...
be prepaired to limit your choices to whatever can be fitted and still fall within the confines of your particular gun's cylinder requirements.
In other words, you want the OAL, bushing heigth-to-cyl face measurement and ratchet heigth to end-up matching your original cylinder as closely as possible. Otherwize, your your biscuts 'n gravy won't come out even....if ya get my drift.
After that, it becomes a matter of "does it time (and line up) right?". Most times, if you got the other stuff right, it will. If not though, you may have to modify the hand (pawl) a hair and/or tinker with the bolt (latch) positioning....either of which will afterward effect how your original cylinder times.

A bit of a balancing act, eh?
