Have a question about the old 3 screw brass grip frame MR-3DB is it clear coated or raw brass ? Just aquired one that is sort of spotted and want to improve its finish.

From Ruger they were "raw brass" ...

if something like a clearcoat is on there, it's been done post SR.

Most like to polish them up, Me ... I like the years of "patina"

Here's one that must have been "rejected" and never finished....

I use a simple kitchen brass polish to polish my brass gripframes. I take the grips off, of course, before doing so, and am VERY careful around the back of the cylinder frame.

I use Flitz polish. On the brass grip frames and on the "high polish" shooters.....

When I use Flitz on hi polish blue guns I'm worried that I am removing blueing as evidenced by the brownish coloration of the cloth afterwards. Some say that's just oxidation. What do you think?
