Office Cat at Vet's Office

I read this post this morning,, did a few chores, and off the the deer stand. I got home tonight,, and Miss Penny said she'd gotten a call from an old friend. This lady used to live nearby,, and attended at least a dozen of our WOT clinics. She also was a regular for Miss Penny's "Girls Night!"
Well, about 8 years ago,, Miss Penny was at work and rescued a kitten from traffic. It was very close to being hit by cars. (Busy downtown area.) Well a few phone calls later,, and this lady came & adopted this little stray. It was just about perfect. Her husband had been gone for a few years,, and "Teensie" filled a void. That cat got the royal treatment,, and was well cared for. Our friend moved north to be closer to her son who can keep a much closer eye on "mom!"
Well, today,, after just 2 days of very unusual & disturbing behavior,, she took her "baby" to the vet. Apparently,, it had a very bad cancer & was put down today.
Graciela & Penny had a good long talk.

There is now a "range" cat at my local range. Just showed up, stayed around and now has a home. Kitten about two- three months old. Named Bullseye for the markings on her side.

Very sorry to learn about your pup, Blizzard.

Thank you everyone for the thoughts. It is tough, I’ll look for some good pictures tomorrow to show you him though the years. He’s 10…his birthday is September 4th.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving with their family.

Here is one that everyone can appreciate. Charlie was a tiny kitten when we got him from my niece. She had a pregnant cat show up at her house and she took her in and found good homes for all of the kittens. She kept the mother cat and got her speyed.

This has been Charlie's favorite toy since he was tiny but as you can see he has grown just a little...

I lost my last dog last winter. The vet couldn't even say what was wrong. Still wanting another dog, I'm too old for a puppy so would like a rescue dog. In the meantime a cat comes by our place and waits at the door to be fed. I think it's a feral cat and doesn't want to be petted but I'm also not one to let an animal go hungry. Now another cat (appears related) comes by looking for food. I'm not a cat person but we keep an eye out for when they come by. I buy 20 cans of cat food at a time, to get the good price. Lost track how many cans we've gone through in the last several months. Winter is tough here so I'll keep feeding them, but they better eat fast, so it doesn't freeze.

Don't pass up the "senior" dogs at the shelter. They are usually mellow and house broken with rudimentary training and socialization. Some have been abused and/or neglected and deserve a chance to live their "golden years" in a loving, caring home.

Geez guys, got up early to smoke a ham and sitting here petting the cat and you got me crying now!

Sorry to hear about Blizzard. It’s tough.

I am 70 and want a dog so bad I think about it every day. I would love a small Munsterlander but we know we can’t do it even with the small traveling we do.

Our daughter and son in law moved to ski country for a two year adventure and we agreed to take the cat, Zane. He is 13 and I can’t imagine not having him around now after over a year. The wife is the primary servant and I am the spare who know how cats operate. I have told my daughter I hope she gets settled to where they want spend life so they can take him back because I don’t want to see him pass in our house.

Now if you will excuse me, I need to wipe my eyes.

You guys are great. Thanks for all the thoughts and comments

Here is a recent picture of Blizzard

He died last night in his sleep. Actually early this morning. My daughter said she went to sleep at 1:40 and he was in the living room. She stopped and gave him a kiss.

We just took him to the emergency animal clinic and will spread his ashes on the beach.

He was happy yesterday, I swear. He ate breakfast and wanted attention all afternoon. We sat out back last night.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! My daughter is going to her friends house. I’m not going to cook anything today. Maybe later this weekend.

Sorry to hear this Kevin, he looks like a hell of a dog

Kevin you will see Blizzard again. I know when my time comes the meowing and purring will be deafening. God Bless You and your family. My screen is blurry now for some reason...

Oh no! So sorry to hear this Kevin. It sounds like he enjoyed his last day. Possibly he had a premonition and wanted to leave you with happy memory.

Thanks everyone for your kindness. Right now it’s really sad for me to look at pictures of him.

But in a few months I’ll try to post some nice pictures of him and Rainy.

Rainy is doing ok. She’s trying to find her place without Blizzard. She is 6 1/2 years old, and has never spent even one night away from him.

I can tell when she is thinking about him and I try to distract her when that happens. Going on car rides and walks help a lot.

I thought it was going to be but nope
Glad he is still with you too. And Double is a great cat name.

We had to take our cat in about 6 years ago. His kidneys stopped working. But he always so mean.

I was so proud of him when he hissed at the vet one final time.

At the garden store they had a cement cat statue that looked so much like Nixon. Now he sits in the flower bed out front.

He is around 15 years old. Mainly a barn cat but he comes in the house to sleep each day and then goes out when he wants to kill something. He nearly died from renal failure 3 years ago but the vets brought him around and he had been fine since. He seemed listless and was not eating. Vet said it was a GI bug
