Bet you haven't seen one of these today. Or this year. Or maybe ever...

Looking at that Ice Box and the hinges and latches on it and realized they really don't make things like they used to for sure.
Man I'd love to have a 'cabinet' like that... but as for the iron... I'm sure I'd blow myself up with it.
cool stuff

Thanks for reminding me the little lady told me to buy some kero for the iron this morning when she was wringing out the laundry and hanging it on the line...

Time I get home she'll be finished with making the soap and ready to start the ironing.

If there's a whistling tea kettle hiding somewhere outside the frame of any of those pictures, I'll give you whatever you are asking for it. Last Thursday, a family member burned one up and I am now being told to "Pick up a new one the next time I go to the store." I warned him two weeks ago that they don't sell those things anymore and they want a couple hundred dollars for a used one...

I have one, but hardly ever use it. I find that the hot water setting on my Keurig coffee machine works just as well for tea as does boiling water in a teapot, and is much faster.

My icebox and portable record player. I also like the fly reel you have. I have caught a bunch of Trout with my Medalist. Now I need to store ammo in my icebox.

A little history for you. After the war and probably until 1947/8 our family was still using an icebox. The reason being is that the manufacturers had not caught up to the demand for refrigerators, yet due to making war material. Therefore, they were hard to come by.

Cool that you noticed the fly reel, Jim. I bought that when I was about 15 years old. I was really into fishing at the time. I need to get a new rod for it, although I don't fish a lot these days - but keep thinking I'm going to start. My son and I were talking yesterday about how we both went through a period from about age 14 to young adulthood where all we studied about was fishing. Now guess what? My oldest grandson is on the same path. He graduates from high school in a couple of weeks, and my son asked him what he would like to do for his senior trip. Lane's quick answer - fishing. So he and dad are booked for a two-day Florida bass fishing trip with a guide who produces some real hogs, fishing with live shiners.
