Oddball SRH in 480

I had always wished Ruger would have offered the Alaskan in longer barrel lengths because the 7.5" and 9" Super Redhawks are for me impractical. I prefer a 4" to 5" barrel and when this one showed up I couldn't resist.

Custom? Prototype? Dunno but I really like it, AND as a bonus it fits my N frame holsters!

Custom. I have a .480 with a 7.5" barrel that will get a similar treatment, though honestly I see little point to the barrel flats on a large bore like the .480.

The PO also had a .454 Toklat and he probably liked the balance of the .454 so he may have duplicated it on this one. I gotta admit I'd not have slab sided the barrel but if that was his purpose it worked better than not. There's still a LOT of meat looking at the muzzle.

I finished making some more ammo tonight and I'll take it and my other .480 and give it a test drive in the next few days.
