Oddball MarkII mag spring guide

Anyone have a magazine "spring guide" like the one on the left? Mag came with an early Mark II that would only hold 9 rounds. I replaced it with the one on the right and the mag now holds 10 rounds just fine. Do the Mark I mags have this type? Just curious here.
