While browsing for a dot mount,I ran across this shot ,and it seemed odd to me. What was the photographer trying to to communicate, or did he miscommunicate?

Without any words that might have gone with the picture it is tough to say. My guess is that he was showing the red dot mounted to his GP100 and the bullets were just to add to the aesthetics of the picture. Or, he was showing the bullets he uses. But when someone is browsing for a mount, the people responding should also describe the mount. Answering the who, what, where, when, why, how, etc. questions is the best way to describe something to help someone looking for information.

Thanks Ron,but I wasn't seeking help in finding a mount,I just thought the photo may have been an example of people's confusion about " bullets" vs "cartridges".

You could contact Griffon Hill , the maker of the mounts and no doubt took the photo, and pick his brain about the pic. Does seem a bit odd to show bullets and not cartridges.

If you zoom in, the GP100 is a 327. Are those 7 shot revolvers? If he is trying to illustrate the red dot mount, it should be at a better angle and closer to show the dot and how it is mounted. Not a very good picture either way.
