octagonal barrels ?

I have a real fondness for the old octagon contender barrels, thy are tapered. They are not at all heavy or bulky, they are almost elegant.

The octagon Contender barrels are a good example. They're gracefully tapered and just the right diameter. Not heavy at all.

I don't know if there is any advantage to the octagonal barrel but I really like the way they look on certain guns.
