I have been watching a bunch of these races lately and really enjoy them.

pre-war Grand Prix 2020 race in its entireity. Bugatti 35B, Maserati 4CM, ERA B-Type, Alfa Romeo 308C and even a pair of Bentley Specials

Oh, yeah. From the days of linen helmets, no roll bars or seat belts, and cars that were designed to slide through corners. And you could actually see the driver sitting upright in the car. That was real racing.

but looking at the track grounds are like a golf course. I was expecting Ladies with large brim hats.

No RVs or smokers in the infield

Dirt is for racing. Asphalt is for getting to the track.

Those cars are from when the drivers were men and the women were grateful.

Big time professional motorsports ( NHRA, NASCAR) is become very dull and boring. In other words it's dying.

Hi,

I love vintage car racing for a lot of reasons. Among them, it's "gentlemen's racing" where swapping paint and running people into the dirt are not part of the program. And every vintage event I've attended had open pits so you could get up close and personal with the cars and drivers. It's so much friendlier an atmosphere than most other racing has become. Just personal likes, I guess.
