Last week I missed some shots with my 357 Maxie that just didn't seem right, then I remembered I had it zeroed with 205 gr. LBT's & was now shooting a 180 gr LBT.
I went to the range & it was way off, 5" right at 100 yds & about 2" low, I had been lucky on the one I got at 64 yds, he was laying flat while munching the new grain.
After making a scope adjustment I shot another 4 rounds & was very surprised, the measured just under 2", maybe as good as I've ever had a Ruger shoot at 100 yds!
You can see the 4 shots & also see 2 of the first 4 on the right edge.

Today I grabbed Callshot (Cantshoot...or see!) & went for a drive, this chuck ran across a grain field & jumped into a rock pile, he gave me a pretty good look & I missed him twice, forgot to step it off but perhaps 80 yds, it looked like both shots were left but spot on for elevation, I held along the right side of the barley bandit & flipped him over.
Shooting from a rest at the range is different than field shooting & this was a perfect example of that. I walked over to the lava reef with my 32 maggie in hand & could see blood but no chuck, he had fell down in one of the cracks, as I stood there I spotted him moving down in the dark reef, I eased the 32 maggie up, thumbed the hammer back & gave him a mouthful of lead posioning, 100 gr cast swc over 3 grs of WST, this load runs about 960 fps at the muzzle & he was just off the muzzle, so maybe 959 fps at impact!
The teeth on rock chucks are like the teeth on beavers, they never stop growing, when these chucks hibernate their teeth can be over an inch long & stick right through their lips. I was thinking about those teeth when I reached down in there & reeled him out.
You can see how long the teeth are, reminded me of a girl I dated once!

Ole Steve was prolly back in the truck thinking of all the dandy sixguns he would inhert if you got eaten!
 
First chuckzilla, now a sabertoothed rockchuck ! He'd make a dandy bottle opener if you did a European mount on him :lol: Guess the playground is open for you and callshot now .
 
I dream of being able to shoot like that. Going to take me many more years of work to get there.

Excellent shooting.

The buck tooth girl I mentioned earlier from my high school days got offended when I ask her if she would like to go out for a "bite" !! :cry:

Dick, what scope mount is that? I have a Max-10 that needs a Leupold 2x and I don't want to use a lag screw in the top strap. Chief aka Maxx Load
 
SIXSHOT--you think your good don't you :P Well you are :) nothing like confidence :!: Love those pictures--keep them coming 8) I sure would like one of them BIG BADGER SKINS--- Alabama is short on them BEAST :lol:

Americal, I'll get you a badger skin before the summers out, you'll just have to remind me.

Frank, I've stuck my hand down in a couple of badger dens thinking they were dead, been chased a couple of times, still have 10 fingers but I think my brain is shrinking! :cry: Ran right over the top of one of my boys when a badger took a shovel away from me, not as fast as I use to be, think its these green Crocs!

Chief, that mount is an Edge Custom, they work great & you don't have to drill & tap.

Hello friends :?: With sixshot it is never dull and his stories are always full of wit and humor. He can see chucks or what ever else we are hunting just like an OLD PRO. He drives just far enough that he can see them and there is a sage brush or fence or mountain between me and the vermin. :cry: Then he says, "Can't you see him? Right there in front of you. :x I thought that I had taught you better than that." :twisted: When I do get a shot it is half way to the Equator and the 32 Maggie won't quite reach it. He says that I must be flinching, but it is just that the bullet won't go past the southern border of Texas, so it is a couple of feet low. I get more shooting than he does if I keep missing the long shots. With iron sights it is more difficult than a scoped 357 Maxie. When lined up on a rock chuck they all look like rocks and I can't tell the difference with my old tired worn out glass eye. :shock: When I mention that I will have to break out the 204 Thompson Encore (no relation to Dick) all he can do is laugh and say that he thought that I was suppose to be a six gunner. :? Next time I'll take the scoped 375 H & H. If he laughs at me he might get the business end of it to bring him back to reality. :wink: At least I am able to enjoy the ride and time away from the house. I have to laugh at his stories and take the pictures for him. 8) If I can get him to, I'll have him tell you about the wild mule that he used to ride if he could get on and hang on. :roll: If I were you I wouldn't hold my breath. He won't tell a story without pictures and I don't think cameras were invented then. Steve aka Can'tshoot & See
 
Steve, I don't envy your lot in life! Having someone like Dick regularly humiliating you must be hard on your self esteem.

Actually Callshot is a very fine shot....but he can't see critters! We had chucks running across a bare field, we had them running across the road in front of us, he didn't see them. If I locked him in a lighted closet with one he'd ask me, where'd he go! :oops: How about a bull moose (black) in green timber at 64 yds, a full grown, big, big bull moose, couldn't see him with his binoc's, I spotted him with my naked eye & had to threaten him to shoot that "black" spot before he would believe me. :shock: He got him, dead center, as fine a game shot as I've ever witnessed.
The chuck he said was in the rocks....that chuck was standing straight up looking at us from the grass (green grass) at about 50 yds, he missed him low, six times with the 32 maggie, I suggested he might be flinching & to hold up on his neck, no luck, I think it either died of old age or fell down its hole laughing & broke its neck. :roll:
But, when he does get game spotted, especially ground squirrels, he can be a holy terror with the maggie. I think I make him nervous, maybe its the 327 maggie I'm holding to his head, telling him to squeeze! :cry:
My goal for the year is to have him get his first rock chuck with a sixgun, and I also plan to make sure he gets his first badger with a sixgun, not a singleshot! I really want to see him tangle with a mad badger, hand to hand combat on dry ground, actually wet ground would be fine, don't think I've ever seen him run, now that would make a great story! :twisted:
He hasn't been spitting enough sunflower seeds either, that usually helps both of us shoot better. He's got a new truck & I plan to fill it full of sunflower seeds...used one's! Thats what he does to mine. To be continued.

Steve,if I were you I would not put up with that constant abuse. Maybe you should leave a well fed and milked up cat in Sixshot,s truck overnight,accidently of course. :D
