Now that is some fine looking early type I's and as for the chocolate grips, that was a case of the mix of the polymer (plastic) reacting to ultraviolet light ( direct sunlight) and can be remedied quite easily with a soak in black RIT dye.......... :cool: ;)

But since it's flatgate's gun I'd carefully leave them brown.

Yes, someone did........Why? My only guess is they were getting light strikes since everything was so worn and by doing this more contact on the firing pin......??

. . . or a broken spring. I bought one with such a problem for cheap and Ruger fixed it right up. Couldn't tell it had been done.

I have this. Not quite sure what I have, but I'm pretty sure I shouldn't shoot it. 44 Magnum caliber.

Just curious if your .44 might have a new model cylinder installed? Something looks off in the length of the cylinder in relationship with the breech. Nice gun either way. Possible to show a picture of the cylinder out of the gun (breech end)? Nice gun and really nice display box.
