Ok, please dont be angry, but I am considering a Glock 37 45 GAP. This is my only weapons forum, and I like this group, so I am asking for advice. Two hundred rounds through and stolen and returned, he asks $375. The serial is partially scratched off, until the goofballs that stole it realized the serial on a glock is in more than one place. I sure like the specs on this gun, even though they are butt ugly. Im looking for a utility weapon, what do you think?

I think you better try and FIND AMMO for that thing before you go any further. The 45 GAP is not readily available around here, which is why these are so much less $$$ even new. If you have to have a 45, and it has to be a Glock, then I suggest you find one that takes the 45ACP, not the 45GAP.

Personally I wouldn't touch it!
But I don't care for striker fired pistols or glocks in general and still can't figure the reason for the .45 Gap round anyway?
Now if it were a .45 ACP without all the scratched off stuff on it..........then maybe???

Do you have full documentation of the case involving the gun, including statements from the local LEOs, BATF(E), and FBI, citing how the gun came to be in its present condition? Without something very much like that I would never touch a gun with even a somewhat messed-with serial #. Just my feeling on the subject, or rather my first reaction to reading it.

Otherwise, ditto on the GAP round.

Nothing to do with the ammo or the make, but a big NO. The serial # partially scratched off... are you kidding, stolen and returned... or just stolen? It’s not worth the jail time and hassles that you might face. If you like the gun, get a fresh one or one without that kind of baggage. For what it is worth, I would not take it for free because of the history and condition of the gun.

If you own a number of handguns and want this one to add to the collection and play with, then I would consider it.... for good or bad. If this is to be your first or only one then I would have to say no or for sure look really close at all the points listed above. There are better choices even in Glock... exotic calibers are really a money pit right now.

I'd steer clear of it. My thoughts on the GAP. It's supposed to stand for - Glock Action Pistol. I think it's a bit more like:

a separation in space

an incomplete or deficient area

a lack of balance

a wide difference in character or attitude

a problem caused by some disparity

Maybe there was just a "gap" in Mr. Glock's thinking????

thanks all for the advice, ill let this one go. not worth it clearly, thanks again :)

All kidding aside, I think you've made the right decision. Even though the Glock has the serial number on the slide, barrel and frame, the only one that matters is the one on the frame. I had a mismatched G26 once. Apparently it had been sent in and Glock replaced the frame so it was a different number than the barrel and slide. If that was the number that was "obscured" or "defaced" then it could be confiscated if you end up in any contact with law enforcement.

OD Glock 37 $379

Sorry to be johnny come lately, but even if you wanted the 45 GAP round, this is a better deal imho

If you're looking for a good deal on Glocks, the world is your oyster. As mentioned, I'd recommend a glock in 9mm, or 45acp =)

Once you decide what model you want, just ask around on forums, and you're sure to be directed to a great deal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've been told that owning a firearm with any part of the serial # missing is a felony.

Thinking the same thing

Glad you walked away. I would not have touched it

Xsales

Glocks are great guns. The .45 GAP is actually a pretty good round. But, I think the price is a little high for an "oddball" caliber in a gun with that kind of history. And, ammo availability is another turn off. There are a lot of Glocks out there, A LOT. lol If you want a big bore Glock, I'd suggest the .45 ACP. Or, the .40 S&W if you want the standard frame.

The .45 GAP was designed to share the "standard" size frame (i.e., 9mm, .40, .357) with the power of a .45 ACP in their "large" frames. Not much difference, but a little. Ballistics are pretty close.
