a buddy just called and said he bought a Sauer & Sohn Western Marshall in .44 mag from an "elderly friend", and needs an ejector rod and a manual. He thinks he has the ejector rod located, but still would like to have a manual. I've checked my usual source (stevespages) for manuals, but no luck. Anyone have a source?

well... I'll add another question/request

does anyone here have any experience with this revolver?

Well it's "basically" a Colt 1873 pattern so...I would bet more or less any ejector rod and spring could be adapted with minimal issues.

Do you have the ejector housing for it?

Story has a Bullseye-type for Rugers that might fit if the ejector rod housing length is similar to a Colt:

I had a Western Marshal that i bought from a Kmart store in Flint, MI for $79.00 back in 1967, they also had a Super Blackhawk for $125.00. It looked like a Colt SAA with a brass grip frame and i don't think that it should have been chambered for 44 magnum as every screw on it would loosen up every time i shot it and recoil jerked the ejector housing off of it often. I sold it in 1975 and never looked back, but i have often wished that i had bought the Super Blackhawk instead. It was the only handgun i ever owned until i bought my P944 in 2001 when i got my CPL.

O owned a Hawes(made in Germany) in the late 50's and 60's.It was in 22 caliber.I carried it for ever on the farm.Loved it.I just found one a few weeks ago and cleaned it up and it had some really ugly faux stag grips on that I slimmed down and fitted properly(awesome now.).I wanted it for oldtime sake.I really love it.I don't know about one in 44 mag. That might be another story but the one in 22 cal is great to play with. Shoots good too.It has lined barrel and cylinder chambers to 22 cal.

No doubt they were the taurus/rossi of the day (relatively speaking).

My buddy is wanting to detail strip this one and as of last night he had no idea how to remove the one piece wood grip. (from the pic he sent, there ain't no way I want that grip style)

He did say it shot fine, although he had to do a bit of manual brass removal due to the broken ejector rod. I doubt he will keep it for long, but he does want to make in functional before passing it along.

I'd be willing to try using EAA Bounty Hunter parts for it if it were mine.
