Not a Ruger but had to "Pull the Trigger" just the same.

I haven't had one of these for a long time. A thread over on another forum got me wanting one real bad.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=351214170 Probably be over a week before I get it. Hope it's as good as the pictures.

Purdy. I remember when I bought mine new in 1980, it was like $240. Glad I never got rid of it!

That is nice. Almost the same (size and caliber wise) as my Security Six shorty in SS.
Enjoy. I hope it shoots as well as my Six does.

Nice 66..mine are 3" barrels as I prefer full length ejector rods..the 65 is also 3" and the SP101, a .327 magnum, has a 3 1/16 barrel.

Best.

I saw that auction....very nice. Glad a fellow member here got it.
Tell us about it when you get it.

Unk, I agree I prefer the 3"ers myself the buy it now price on the one I found was $475 more than what I paid for this one. Unemployed right now and not used to that so I'm trying to be somewhat careful with my money and I'm getting ready to close on another house in two weeks. Probably get another one with the 3" later on, but would like to be working before I do.

That's my auction you won there ..I think you will enjoy the 66 ... I have had it about 10 years ..shot some 38 specials through it , never carried it ...safe to the range and back ... I am sure you will enjoy it!

Nice catch and the way thins are going, that's a good price. Here in LaLa land I would only be able to get one on a face to face locally. Not "import" one from another state.
My compromise was to go out and buy a 686 seven shot three inch today. I'm stoked. Can't wait to get it.
One of these days, Id like to add a fixed sight three inch GP100 to the mix.
Maybe fifteen years ago a guy at work said he wanted a good compact revolver for fun and personal defense. I told him to get a SW 66. He found one for $350 from a friend. Wish I'd have done the same. heh.

I could have a problem. I had already bid on one and there was over 24 hours before the end of the auction so didn't really worry about it. Actually I kinda spaced it. Just hope someone bids on it and takes me off the hook. If not I could have 2 very nice 66's. I'll have to rethink that, that might not be ALL that bad. Just a little tight on the $ so hopefully someone will bid up the other one. Well in the last few minutes I was rescued. That means I can start saving my shekels for a 3" mod 66.

Fred, a 3" 686 is a pretty sweet gun in itself. Especially a 7 shot.

The 686 are nice but I actually prefer the slightly smaller Model 19 frame. I also like the scalloped barrel underlug rather than one flush with the barrel.
None of these minor differences dampen my enthusiasm for the 686. I had to call over LA and Orange Co gun shops. Found couple two inch snubbies and just missed one three inch. Found a 66 that had been rode too hard. Persistence paid off.
Enjoy your new toys. I will eventually find one.
Sorry I sold my old six inch 19 years ago.

okay their exists a few of blue boxes in my safe among the Ruger2....Combat Magnums, Model 29, I am weak, I have double actions! What is wrong with me, I need to seek counseling....single action
