Does anyone know or have a list of grip frames that fit Ruger SA? Understanding that many are missing the holes or pins that are needed for the mechanism. Only interested in the screw holes that attach it to the frame line up, can modify .

I've seen posts of others using two piece 1851/1860 frames. Not sure if original or which repro.
My BFR grip fits, only tried it because it was labeled ALCO
Colt 1877 frame doesn't fit; screw holes are too close together.

Thanks

Several companies made aftermarket grip frames that will fit. Qualite, Caravelle, etc come to mind as does Power Custom who makes two piece grip frames so you can install one piece grips. In fact, there is a brass grip frame for an old model Ruger for sale in the classifieds as I type this.

Of course all Ruger SA grips frames will interchange with regard to screw pattern, including new model to old model.

All there are has already been mentioned above: BFR, Power custom 2 piece Colt size, and a few after market brands, only the mediocre of those still available. All others will require screw hole modifications.

One additional easily adapted option is the Cimarron/Uberti Colt clone birdshead backstrap authentic to the Colt Lightning birdshead, with the knuckle at the top of the back strap (not just rounded like Ruger's birdshead). It has the correct screw pattern around the hammer for Rugers.

One can merely cut the backstrap and the butt strap from the Ruger standard XR3 and XR3-RED size grip frames, and drill and tap a hole at the toe of the front strap, to attach the Cim. backstrap.
